| Do you frame your own or do you buy pre-stretched, mounted canvas?
I tend to lean toward buying pre-stretched because I can never seem to get mine tight enough LOL!
I love creating 3D pieces to put all over out house with them (especially when I can buy them 50% off).

| I usually use pre-stretched too. I experimented with some Sticky Back Canvas and a wood frame to make a "faux" canvas. Overall I like how it turned out, but it still wasn't as tight as I would have liked and the corners were a bit bulky. | |

| I always buy them pre-stretched - never thought about doing it myself. | |

| One thing I have noticed about some canvases and confirmed this with an artist friend who paints, some are coated with some type of finish and some are not. I had a problem getting some things to adhere to a cheap one even after it was painted. The stuff would stay for a while and then fall off. Turns out the coating made it near impossible for the adhesive to make a permanent bond. I fixed it by adding some brads through the element and the canvas.
I tell you, it really drove me nuts for a while. I would come into the room and the paper background that everything was on would be hanging half off. I would fix it and then a week or so later, it would fall again. I was using Super Tape, there was no way it shouldn't have held. That stuff holds every thing! | |

| Years and years ago I was the designer for Canvas Concepts and published three books on creating with canvas (Scrapbooking on the wall series). anyways, I love pre-stretched canvases. The ones I used were already treated. When they are, they are a lot easier to use. The natural canvases I use to use were treated in the back so that it looked natural but if you cut it, it wouldn't fray. | |

| Definitely the pre-stretched canvases. Too lazy to do my own - lol! Some canvases are already gessoed, I guess that's the coating you're talking about. I've only used paint on the gessoed canvases, so not sure how paper adheres to them. | |
