I took the plunge and bought a Cricut last fall. One of the things holding me back was having to buy cartridges for it but since the price has come down a lot, I caved! I would love the ability to cut my own true type fonts and understand there are a couple programs out there... Make The Cut and Sure Cuts A Lot. Anybody have either of these? Is one better than the other? Fill me in!

Thanks a bunch!

Yay Lori! So happy you took the plunge! I can't speak for Make the Cut but I can speak for Sure Cuts a Lot! I use Sure Cuts A Lot for everything Cricut! I have cartridges but I find I use the SCAL for almost all of my cutting now, hardly ever use the cartridges. There are so many files out there that you can print from the SCAL, including your fonts. I have even learned how to take shapes and images and convert them so that SCAL can print them out just like the SVG files.

I love the software. I haven't had any problems whatsoever and I've had it for a few months now, maybe close to a year. It has the option to lay everything out on your mat on the screen, move around, make different sizes....very user friendly. I use my laptop connected to my Cricut because my desktop isn't near where my Cricut is. I am not able to leave mine out because of space so I have to hook it all up everytime I use it. Thing is, it sets up very quick and easy. I haven't used my Gypsy since I bought SCAL.

If you have any specific questions, I'm happy to help if I can. So if you're wondering..... SCAL ROCKS!!!!

Hope that helps!
