| i'm in search of a good mop ... for tile floors. up until yesterday i've been using the h2O mop that i ordered online a year or so ago .. for the past month it has been a real pain in the rump ... to make a long story short, it broke, and doesn't work anymore.
so..... any ideas on a good mop i can get that works good on tile floors?

| I agree with Sherry on the steam mop, but for everyday use, I seriously LOVE LOVE LOVE my Swiffer Wet Jet. I only bust out the steam mop once a week to really disinfect. | |

| I have the Bissell steam mop and love it. But like the others, I don't use it for everyday use. I also use the Swiffer Wet Jet for the daily clean ups. | |

| good to hear about the Shark .. i was looking at those last night at target!! it looks like it works alot like the h2O mop ..
renee, does the swiffer wet jet use chemicals in it, or is it just hot water? the guy who put in our tile floor told me to not use chemicals/soaps on the tile. he said just use hot water/steam water on it, and then every 6 months i use a special tile solution he just gave me the day he put the floor in.

| I'm not Renee, but I think it does have some kind of chemicals Carrie. It's a bottle formula that attaches to the mop and sprays on the floor so you can't use water. The only use I have for the Swiffer is in two of my bathrooms. For you, the steam mop might work better since you can only use steam/water on the floor. | |

i've always wondered if what the tile guy was correct ... if i absolutely can't use chemicals on it ... that seemed a little odd to me ... but then again, he was pretty particular about his tile knowledge and installing it. i think i'll call him and ask him some more questions ...

| Is it ceramic tile? If so, I have used the Swiffer wet jet (among other cleaners) on ceramic and it was fine. Now if it's another type of flooring tile, I wouldn't know. Might be best to just double check.
I'll check the bottle of Swiffer formula and see what's in it....might help when you talk to him.

| i have a shark, a swiffer wet jet and a Mr Clean (the white sponge) mop and honestly not a single one of them does my grout well. I still end up on my hands and knees with clorex cleaning the grout. So if you come up with a good one please share! | |

| It does have chemicals like Sherri said Carrie but as long as the tile isn't like a marble or travertine that is a porous surface like that - it should be fine. But definitely double check with your tile guy.
As far as getting the grout clean - water and vinegar does the best. And usually what I do when I do a monthly deep clean - I will put vinegar in my water unit on the steam mop then I also have a water bottle I keep with water and vinegar that I spray on the floor while using the steam mop. It does great for wood floors too!

| Going to try the vinegar thing in my shark next time. That sure would be hands and knees and white sponge cleaning.

Renee, can you share your formula? LOL How much vinegar do you add to the water. I'm definitely going to give this a try. Does it leave a vinegar smell?

| I use a spray bottle that I fill with 1 cup vinegar and the rest is water. So it's diluted pretty good becuase Vinegar is acidic so you don't want it too strong. The vinegar does leave a vinegar smell but it's not too pungent even for my prego nose . I love using water and vinegar on my wood floors too. Cleans it to the perfect shine - Now - if your grout is not sealed you may want to try an actual grout cleaner from Lowes or HD that is specific for unsealed grout. | |

| Ok not to get too technical but how much do you put in your steam mop? I don't have grout to worry about. I'm thinking about the vinegar solution more for my steam mop.
