| Now that I have a bigger dedicated space for my scrap room, I am in search of the "perfect" scrap table! I just go from one to another trying to decide! I've checked out Craig's List and almost caved on one but in the end decided it just wasn't what I was really looking for and would not have been happy with in the long run. I have been saying all along that when I get my space I want one of the stainless steel work tables they use in restaurants because of it's durability with spraying and painting etc. Now that I can get it, just not so sure I really want that industrial table in my work area......see what I mean??? I can't decide! I'd love to get feedback from you gals.....what do you use? I want to get something I know I'll be happy with long term but I don't want to spend a fortune either. Any ideas? Pics would be great too if you have them..... | |

| I have an "L" shaped desk and I love it! It's a reused countertop from someone's kitchen so it's pretty durable. I keep a mat down anyway.
I think that industrial look would be cool! I would go with something kitcheny b/c you know it will be durable and clean decent.
I love that it is at my waist so I can stand. I am amazed at how much I stand now and can't imagine scrapping sitting all the time.
The only thing, is that it is installed right in the wall so there is no moving it but that's okay.
Now, I just need some better lighting!!!

| Oh the 'L' shape sounds great. My space for my table is more in the center of the room because I have bookshelves on two walls and the other wall is my staircase and the other a window! I'm re-thinking the stainless table! Thanks for sharing!

| Do you have a local IKEA?
They have a selection of build it tables/desks. I got min there and I love it.
Mine is composite wood and I purchase a glass top for it. It works great and is wipe-able.
Good luck ! | |

| I thought of doing a glass top for a painted wood table I was thinking of. That's definitely what I'd do if I go with wood!
Unfortunately, our nearest Ikea is 4 hrs away.....but I just might have to make a day trip of it. I was just telling hubby that earlier today....

| We just did a re-do on my scrapspace. Took a daytrip to our nearest Ikea and loaded up the van....so worth it. I love the desk I ended up getting b/c it has a pullout to make it L shaped. You can see pics and deets here. http://mel-o-drama.typepad.com/melodrama/2011/06/worktable-wednesday-1.html I am SO happy with it! I think a stainless table would be an awesome idea!!! Hey Ellen I hear ya on the lighting...ever since I turned 35 the lightbulbs in my house just aren't strong enough...what's with that. | |

| Melonie--LOL on the lighting. It weirds me out that now I have to turn on the light in the kitchen to be able to "see what I am doing" lol. I too think Ikea would give you the most options and bang for your buck. I have a desk from Scrap N Cube which I adore, but it was a gift from my parents several years ago.My house isnt big enough to fit another work space, but that is what I would love to do--something similar to yours Ellen, where I could stand in one location and sit to sew at my desk. http://www.scrapncube.com/ | |

| oh mel that looks awesome.
I know! 35 stinks, LOL!!! I have an Ott lamp but need another one. My room is in our basement so that doesn't help my cause.
The L shape is cool b/c I have room for my sewing machine, cuttlebug, etc And then tons of shelving space underneath.
The bummer is it can't come with me b/c it's in the wall. Oh well. I can't complain bc I got it at an auction for free.
At Ikea you can order online and have it shipped to the store, too. That way if you drive 4 hours and don't find what you want it won't be a wasted trip.
