We adopted them today from the animal shelter. Our kids are thrilled, of course. Please pray for a smooth transition from the shelter to our house. lol

Thank you, Lori! We promised our kids that when we moved from our old neighborhood FILLED with children, to a place with virtually no playmates, that we would let them have pets. We've been in our house since Feb., it was time to pay up on the bribe! lol

ha-ha! I know it's so hard to believe, I'm still in shock myself! Fuzzball is already in the barn and loving it. We have to keep him in the barn for a solid week to get him used to his territory. They actually promoted him as a barn cat! He's very sweet and playful.

Since Lucky is a puppy, we have to crate her @ night until she's big enough to move outdoors. She's so loving, I just hope she's healthy & it all goes well.

Oh, I can't let my kids see this post-- they'd be so jealous!!
They want a pet in the worst way, but we live in town with a small yard and I have allergies, so I don't want anything inside.
My compromise was that we walked dogs for the Humaine Society this summer.

We use to put Chevy (our dog) in a cardboard box when he was a pup, had lots of blankets and towels to keep him comfy

I know what you mean, my kids have been BEGGING for pets for a few years. They kept asking Santa Claus to bring them pets and I had to assure them that Santa does not deliver live pets. lol

I think that's a wonderful idea you came up with to give them their pet fix!

Yeah. It worked well, except that they fell in love with a new dog every couple of weeks.
We're too busy now in fall (another good reason to not get our own pet) but we'll definitely volunteer again next summer.
