| That is soooo not a stupid question! I think it's a great question....one I'd like to know. I'm not a card maker so I have no idea. I just usually cut some cardstock and fold! But it would be nice to know the sizes so they'd fit in an envelope if I actually wanted to use one!
Great question...... | |

| sooooooo not a silly question!!!
The "standard" card size is a 4.25 x 5.5 which is what you would get by cutting an 8.5x11 piece of cardstock in half.
But nowadays there is no such thing as standard with all the shaped cards, bulky cards, larger cards. I also love to make 4x6 or 5x7. And if it doesn't fit in a standard A4 envelope than I just buy one of those brown mailers. postage isn't much different.

| I think the size of the card depends on what you are using it for. Of course Hallmark likes bigger cards, and note cards are usually smaller, but I like to see a mix:) I also like to see people switch things up for envelopes. I keep a stash of smaller kraft bags on hand and often make my cards I'm hand delivering fit in one of those. And the clear glassine bags are great as well. And you can make them match your cards.
I know Andrea like the 5.5X5.5 square cards and does a fabulous job with them!
Maybe a unique size card needs to be a challenge!?

| Awww this is not a stupid question at all !!!! I use to work for an envelope/paper company so I just happen to know this. Here are the envelope sizes that are available .... A1- (4bar) 3 5/8" x 5 1/8" A2- 4 3/8" x 5 3/4" A6- 4.75" x 6.5" A7- 5 1/4" x 7 1/4" A8- 5.5" x 8.125" A9- 6" x 9 1/2" No.10 Envelopes 4 1/8" x 9 1/2" Square Envelopes 5 inch, 5.5 inch, 6 inch, 6.5 inch, 7 inch, 7.5 inch, 8 inch, 8.5 inch What I do is take these envelope sizes into account and make my cards just a nudge smaller so it can fit. I do carry most of these sizes in the store... hope it helps.
