My mother use to tell us that 'Easy is never the path to success".

| Great post! I just saw the previews for the movie last night. I have been out of the loop as far as reading goes since Eat, Pray, Love.....
Anyway, I am wondering if anyone read the book?
I still have yet to see the movies for the last books turned to movie: Eat, Pray, Love and Water for Elephants

| Wow, what a great story!!! Thanks so much for sharing!
This article makes me wonder how many other"best sellers" are sitting in somebody's drawer because of rejection letters..........
I've read and reread the Help! I adore the book...makes me so sad to see that it was rejected so many times BUT so glad that the author was persistent.
I can't wait to see the movie. I'm going next week for a girls night out with my mom and sisters.

| I remember after I read it I was stunned to hear she was a first time author. It is seriously one of the best books I've read in a LONG time and I consider myself a reader.
It's so funny because this article totally resonates with me. After law school I saved every rejection letter I got from law firms I applied to. I had a THICK stack, probably at least forty. And I cant say that it didnt get me down, but I am usually the same way, once I set my mind on doing or having something I just keep pummeling away until I finally get it. I did end up getting an acceptance at a large international firm and worked there until my DD was born. So what if I hated the job, the other people that worked there and would never consider working at a firm again, etc....lol...I just wouldnt be deterred by a thick stack of rejection letters. It can be so hard to put ourselves out there and then when you get rejected on top of that it is just a miserable feeling, but imagine what a want-to-be actor/actress or musician or dancer experiences. I think it was so cool of her to put this out there to remind us what we are all capable of.
