Wierd.................

I requested friendship with someone who was a year younger than me in school. This is the response I rec'd from this individual who is "very left" (her words):

"Thanx for extending an invite to be your friend Marcee...but between your love of god and guns, I don't really think it will work out.
Peace out...."

Yes, I am a Christian and support the right to bear arms.
It seems sort of hypocritical that an she would support the right of a woman to choose whether or not to terminate a pregnancy and/or believe in a persons right to choose if they were same sex oriented, but not allow others the right to choose their own beliefs. Just sayin'

For me I try to keep social networking social and keep personal/political views for sites specific for those things. It's to bad she doesn't want to be your friend. I do. You can friend me:) Joyce Casaldi.

It's probably better this way, you don't need someone like that.

Not everyone in my family has the seems views or beliefs but we all love each other very much!
We can still be friends, kind & compassionate to each other.... despite our differences!

I'm sorry you had to deal with that I'll be the first to say that my religious and political beliefs are different from most, but I have never felt the need to seperate myself from those who believe differently. Unfortunately most people fail to see the beauty in the differences between all of us. I've never understood why so many want thier beliefs to be respected, but can't offer an ounce of respect to those who don't agree with them.

Thanks Ladies!! It means a lot that you understand and care. I'm def. a person who altho, may not share someones beliefs/thoughts as my own, would love someone despite that. We are all different and wouldn't life be a bit boring if we only associated with those we were exactly alike? I have learned so much about who I am from a good friend of mine that is not Christian.

I want to share with you an email I rec'd on the subject from someone I worked with 12 years ago. We found each other on FB a few months back. Reading this really touched me:

"Marcee - You know, this may be too much solely based on your status, but I am going to tell you this anyway.

One of the things, if not the biggest thing I recall about you is that you are a Christian. And it is what I admired about you at Trugreen amidst all the garbage that went on there in the office we worked in. I am glad to have had the chance to meet you and glad that you still have a the Lord as your foundation.

It is really something I want each one of my 3 girls to have when they grow up. So for a man 12 yrs after meeting you to tell you he wants his little girls to grow up like you... well I would say you have done a great job with your life (not that you ever doubted this)." (Yes, I have doubted this A LOT!)


This meant SO much to me!

I lived in Berkeley, CA for over a year and as most know, the city is known for it's open mindedness. That is, it is open minded as long as you agree with the popular opinion. They weren't accepting of my opinions, they didn't even want to listen to them. Funny how that works.

I am sorry that this person has not accepted you as their friend because they disagree with your viewpoints. It shows that you are a more enlightened individual that you were interested in being their friend, despite the difference.

For what it is worth, you have a lot of friends here, no matter what saying is on your T-shirt or bumper sticker is on your car.

I agree with the others! it sounds like she's doing you a favor and you are missing a bullet with her. She would probably just cause drama for you on Facebook, and no one needs that!

Marcee - You are such a fantastic person. I have always loved how you stand up for what you believe, but that believing what you do, you would never force your beliefs on others. It is definitely their loss.
