QOTD 9/11

I was living in California. I remember being at my sisters house, watching the news in the morning. We were watching it live when the 2nd plane hit the 2nd tower. We just stood in disbelief, in tears and shock at what was happening. Watching this morning, it's still a disbelief that something like that could happen.

We were in Las Vegas for a convention. My sister-in-law called and woke us up after the first plane hit. (She knew my husband traveled all the time and wanted to see where he was.) My son was only 6 mo. old then and he was at home (in Chattanooga) with my Mom & Dad. It was horrible being so far away from my baby and I couldn't get to him. Such a tragic day; one that left a huge hole in our hearts.

p.s. I think the memorial in NYC is absolutely breathtaking! It's so moving to see the famililes touching the names.

I was living in San Francisco and working at the San Francisco Federal District Court. When I got to work they were evacuating the building. One of my coworkers gave me a ride home. We heard something on the radio but there was so much confusion we had no idea what was going on. When I got home and saw, Scott was still in the East Bay. I just sat there sobbing. He did get home safely. All my family was in New York and I couldnt get in touch with anyone--all the phone lines were down. As a family we were so fortunate, everyone who was supposed to be in the area wasn't for one reason or another. My cousin's family lives in a neighborhood of firefighters and they lost so many friends.

I was in bed, my husband came in and flipped on the tv, and we watched the airplanes hit the towers on the news. It was early, it felt like I was there watching it.

Sipping coffee on a gorgeous, early fall day... My husband had taken the day off because my b-day is 9/11. We had a preschooler, a toddler and were expecting a baby. It was a leisurely, happy morning, then the phone rang. My Mom told me to turn on the TV and I frankly couldn't understand what she was saying.. Then I saw the disaster unfolding before my eyes on the television. I was scared for our Nation, our World, and especially for my babies and their future. I especially identified with all the pregnant wives who were later interviewed after their husbands' deaths on 9/11... I couldn't begin to image their sorrow.

I was home with Evan who was about 10 months old at the time. All of a sudden my Hubby came pulling into the driveway and told me to put on the tv. I knew it must be bad for him to be home from work so soon after he had left. I just remember clinging to my Husband while watching it all unfold and looking over at Evan and thinking "what kind of world have we brought this precious baby into" I too thought the memorial service was very moving.
