| Anyone take the Kindle or Nook plunge?
We had a huge discussion about them this weekend. My BF has a Kindle has a kindle and looooooves it. I have to tell you, I was opposed to it a bit b/c of the feel of a book in your hands. But it is awesome! It is the size of the book and you can get a folder thingy for it so it feels pretty "booky" if that makes any sense.
So then we started talking bout the Ipad...how you can read on them, too.
Just curious to see if anyone has had thoughts on getting one....

| I wanted to add. Ash keeps metioning it, but not sure how much she would use it with school. I think they like you to buy the hard cover version of text. It may be a Christmas gift for her. | |

| I don't really know how I feel about it. I get enough reading on the computer with scrapbooking and photography websites...when I sit to read a book I want it to be a book...not on a screen!!! But that's just me:) | |

| I have the Sony Daily Edition Reader and LOVE it!
I was able to buy Mockingjay online this morning and get halfway through it before half of my friends even picked up their "reserved" copies at the stores LOL!
I love how I can change the font size depending on how well my eye sight is that day (go ahead and laugh but I swear it varies LOL!) and how my bookshelves arent overflowing anymore. I was starting to run out of room and starting stashing books in very odd places around my house.
LOVE LOVE LOVE it! | |

| I have looked at these and will probably end up with one but....the reason I haven't yet is because the book prices are not any cheeper. I can get books at Walmart for around 6.00 and those same books on the Kindle are 3 dollors more. That just doesn't make sense to me but I like the idea of not having to wait to get a book I want. That I can down load it anywhere at anytime.

Oh this is SO not true!!!!! I get mine so much cheaper than the store prices. Especially if its the first day of release. I only paid $6.00 for a brand new book a month ago and the new book I bought yesterday was cheaper than I would have found it anywhere else, even with a coupon! Each reader has its own computer software that has an online store connected directly to it. Once you have the software, you are updated reguarly with specials that only owners are made aware of. Trust me, its totally worth having!

| i heard they were cheaper, too, jennifer. but i guess it depends on how much you are willing to spend for the kindle
brianne, i end up donating the books i buy b/c of the room, too! this was another reason i am leaning towards it.
i was going to ask for one for christmas but i don't want to wait that long, LOL
hey brianne, can you share books on yours? i know you can't on the kindle (like send them to your friends)

| I dont think you can due to your reader being registered to your account with that service. Also, they dont seem interchangeable. B&N says that you can purchase their books and use them on any reader but its not really true. I tried downloading the app for my iphone and using their electronic books and it didnt work. Nor did it work when I tried to read it on my sony reader. I think I may just have some coding incorrect somewhere but it was beyond my skill level to change. that is the only bummer to me. Sometimes Borders or Barnes has better prices than the Sony Reader store (and vice versa) and I thought it would be great to be able to purchase ebooks from anywhere but it does not seem possible quite yet. | |

| I haven't taken the plunge yet but I'm really wanting to. I love the convenience of it. I would love to be able to have more than one book with me when traveling but carrying more than one is not feasable. And I just think they're cool! I'm sure I'll cave before too long! | |
