How did you get into scrapbooking/card making?

I was immediately hooked when a friend took me to a Creative Memories party probably 15 years ago. Just seeing all the papers and stuff that you can do with an album, sucked me in. I was already a huge picture freak, toting my camera everywhere and taking tons of pictures. This was a way that I could actually keep those pictures and tell the story behind them, which I always loved.

So my obsession went from there. I wasn't really into Creative Memories supplies, once I found there was a scrapbooking world out there. I immediately went shopping to feed my addiction and never looked back.

To this day, my husband still thanks my friend, Teresa, for getting me started! (And I do mean, thanks, in a sarcastic kind of way) lol!

Although I had attended one Creative Memories party, I never really got hooked. It wasn't until I walked into a lss that I become instantly obsessed!! That was ten years ago and I never dreamed a hobby could become a way of life! Smile

I started when I was in High School when one of my assignments in Home Economics was to make a small scrapbook for a preschool class that I had helped with.
My *obsession* started after my 2nd baby was born....and I haven't looked back. QOTD 9/9 198327

Ever since I got my first camera for my 12th birthday, I've been the family photographer, so I had lots of photos stored in albums. I had QVC turned on during one of the craft days and saw a segment with Lisa Bearnsen from Creating Keepsakes. I thought scrapbooking looked like a perfect hobby, so I bought a couple of magazines, found a Creative Memories consultant in our area and bought some white cardstock, an album, some border strips and a journaling pen, and started scrapping. That was 13 years ago and my obsession is still going strong, LOL!

For me it was after my grandmother died, and my mom was in such deep grief... my sister and I decided to spread out all the old WWII era photos and get to work helping our mom get through her grief. It was such good therapy and all the relatives were fighting over keeping the albums we made!
